California: Day 2

Well, technically it is day 3, but I was too tired yesterday to even begin to think. So, while waiting for my hair to try, I am gonna share my Wednesday in California.

I didn't want to wait any longer, so I went to Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills to visit Buster. I don't know why, but whenever I am there just sitting in the sun with him, I feel very calm and at ease. I sat there for a good 20 minutes, just sitting there. I do talk to him too, either in my head or voice my thoughts out loud. Again, don't really know why, but it just feels nice to sit and tell him how much he means to me. This may sound hokey, but it is the truth...and just wait, because I am really gonna lay it on.

Last time when I was sitting with Buster, I smelled cologne every once in awhile coming in with the wind. I am sure it was from flowers nearby or something, but I felt like the smell meant he was there listening to me. It was a very comfortable feeling and it definitely made me smile. Well, this year the same thing happened. I was walking back down from visiting another grave and felt like someone was with me and I could smell someones breath. Not like a bad breath smell, but definitely like someone was breathing near me. Whether or not it was flowers or anything else making the smell come through the air, it made me smile because I felt like perhaps Buster was walking with me. A girl can dream, right?

I finally pulled myself away from where he is buried and headed to wear Bette Davis buried because it is another central point to where others are located. On this visit I of course saw Bette, but also Charles Laughton, Andy Gibb, and Nudie Cohn (a famous cowboy suit designer/bedazzler). After this came the hard part because the next ones I had to find were spread out over the park. Thank God some of the graves had GPS coordinates listed because that helped a TON! With the help of my TomTom and my printout with pictures, I managed to find everyone I was looking for...Snug Pollard, Ricky Nelson, Louise Lorraine, Joyce Compton, Mignon Anderson, Tom Bosley, Scatman Crothers, Brittany Murphy, and Reta Shaw.

Needless to say, I was exhausted after this day. I left with another lovely farmer's tan and was spent for the rest of the day. I went and did some laundry where the lady who owns it was super nice, it was very refreshing.

Today I am off to visit Forest Lawn - Glendale. I always get kinda nervous about trying to find out how to get in to the Great Mausoleum. I know Jean Harlow's grave is in THE FORBIDDEN ZONE, but just to Harold Lloyd or Theda Bara or Clark Gable and Carole Lombard...I seriously would almost risk getting kicked out just to run around in there. Oh to be invisible for a few hours!!

Ta-ta for now!
